I have now the new Windows 7 operating system, which makes changing the keyboard layout even easier. On the Microsoft Help and How-to page there is a video about how to add and change an input language: http://tinyurl.com/yfbusbd . The following is a transcript of the relevant part of the text.
“To add keyboard layouts on a PC you have to go to the Control Panel. In the search box type “Input language”. Click Change Keyboards or other input methods. Click Change keyboards. Under Install Services click Add. Scroll down to find the input language that you want and click the plus sign next to it. Click the plus sign next to keyboard and then click the specific language you want to add. Click OK. Click OK and then click OK again. Once you’ve added the input language you can then use the language bar on the task bar to change the input language you are currently using. To change the input language click the input language button on the language bar and then click the language that you want to use.”

In der Systemsteuerung gibt es den Menüpunkt Zeit, Sprache und Region. Klicke auf Tastaturen und Eingabemethoden ändern. Klicke auf den Button Tastaturen ändern. Wähle unter Standardeingabesprache die gewünschte Sprache. Wenn Deutsch oder eine andere Standardsprache schon gewählt ist, klicke auf Hinzufügen. Wähle aus der Sprachenliste die gewünschte Sprache (z.B. Tschechisch (Tschechische Republik), klicke auf das Pluszeichen, klicke auf das Pluszeichen neben Tastatur und wähle die gewünschte Eingabeart der Sprache (z.B. Tschechisch (QUERTY)). Klicke OK und noch einmal OK. Die Sprache ist nun auch den Eingabesprachen hinzugefügt. Wiederhole die Auswahl für weitere Sprachen. Zwischen den Sprachen kann mit Alt+Umschalter gewechselt werden.
My problem and I guess because I am not very familiar with it, is when I use the Russian language with an american keyboard. It takes me a long time to fnd the russian letter hidden under the english key. Any ideas?
